Frequently Asked Questions

Why do individuals use Aloe Vera?

Common uses for taking aloe vera internally include: using it for overall health, detoxification, laxative purposes, cleansing, moisturizing, gastritis, ulcers, burns, colitis, eczema, arthritis, and nervous stomach. People use it topically as a moisturizer, as well as for sunburns, minor cuts, burns, and insect bites.

What is the difference between the juice and the gel?

The gel is derived from the juice, but uses a naturally occurring thickening agent called carrageenan added to it. The thickening agent comes from an Irish moss.

What percentage of Aloe Vera is in your juices and gels?

The traditional fillet juice and the Whole leaf juice contain 99.7% aloe vera. The gels in both categories contain 99.5% aloe vera because of the carrageenan that is added. The pleasant tasting flavored drinks contain 60% aloe vera.

What is the difference between Fillet and the Whole Leaf?

The Fillet uses only the inner gel part of the leaf. The Whole Leaf processes the entire leaf.

What is the shelf life of Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera?

It is good for a minimum of 2 ½ years unopened, and if it’s opened and refrigerated, about 9 months. Preservative Free products only last 1-3 months after opened.

How much Aloe Vera can you drink per day?

We recommend 2-4 ounces per day. All Lily of the Desert products are safe and effective if you choose to take more.

The Gel is too thick…how can I get it out of the bottle?

Let it sit out for an hour. If it does not improve, stick a knife or something inside to loosen it up.

What should Aloe Vera taste like?

Lily of the Desert juice has a vegetable taste, and is not bitter. You can mix Lily of the Desert aloe vera juice with any type of your favorite juice. Our best tasting full-strength juice is the Preservative Free juice.

What are the Aloe Polysaccharides?

Aloe polysaccharides are the biologically active long chain sugars found in aloe vera. According to most scientists, these provide much of aloe vera’s healing qualities.

How many Aloe Polysaccharides are contained in Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera?

Lily of the Desert’s Whole Leaf aloe vera contains an average of 4,000 mg per liter. The Fillet aloe vera contains an average of 2,000 mg per liter.
